What is realtime PCR?

PCR means Polymerase Chain Reaction, also known as quantitative polymerase chain reaction. It is a molecular biology based on the polymerase chain reaction.

The aim of microbial testing in the diagnosis of severe periodontitis is to establish the composition of the subgingival plaque. Detection of marker bacteria, as well as the dertermination of the proportions of these microbial species is essential.

Indication use Caries Test

When should I test?
  • Recurrent caries in a patient with good oral hygiene and a normal diet

Bacteria:

  • Streptococcus mutans
  • Streptococcus sobrinus
  • Lactobacillen
  • Total bacterial load

Therapy advice

The plaque sample is analysed at our certified, bacteriological laboratory and assessed by a team of experts, such as microbiologists and periodontists. You will receive scientifically sound advice on supporting the treatment with an antibiotic, if necessary.

LabOral is concerned with clinical oral microbiology. In case of clinical periodontal microbiology and caries diagnostics, interpretation of the results and a therapy advice is provided. An advice based on the microbiological findings and on the clinical data provided by the dental professional, based on scientific research and on years long clinical experience of a team of microbiologists and clinicians. Collaboration with other microbiological laboratories in and outside Europe exists.
